Missing You

I woke up to the sweetest melody
caressing my senses,
radiating heat from countless moments
never forgotten.
This distance is torturous.
Yearning to hold you close,
I watch a million brilliant speckles
of our memories
dance across these weathered walls,
and you are right here, right now.
Can you feel it?
When I whisper your name,
can you hear it?
Five thousand miles apart
and our hearts still beat in sync
can you believe it?
When I have nothing left
but words on a page,
I am as wealthy
as the millionaires around the bend.
When I have nothing to hold on to
but the thought of you,
I am just as pleased with life
as anyone could ever be.
Hurry home, come back to me.
We can twirl with the wind
and drift away to our hiding place.
No one can touch us there,
life can go on as it came,
while we make crowns out of
wildflowers,
and kiss in the tall grass,
and all is well as it used to be.

Until then, I will stay in this bed,
under our sheets,
forever haunted
by the most vibrant sound
of your name.
Ahh...the sweetest melody.
